Mmm-Mmm Good Peanut Butter Frosting

Looking for a unique, delicious frosting recipe? Look no further, this peanut butter frosting is delicious, and when coupled with chocolate cupcakes, or cake, it tastes like a Reese's peanut butter cup! As a matter of fact, this recipe is so good that my husband made me save the leftovers to use on toast and pancakes (and he is an incredibly picky eater)!

Ingredients:

1/3 cup vegetable shortening
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 pound, sifted, confectioners sugar
4-6 tablespoons of milk

Cream together the shortening and butter. Once that has been done, add in the peanut butter and mix well. After the sugar has been sifted, combine that with the butter ingredients. As you mix, you will notice that everything looks dry and crumbly. This is normal, do not panic! To have the actual frosting appearance simply add in your milk a tablespoon at a time. We used the full six as I had wanted a very creamy frosting, to make the frosting have a stiffer consistency use less milk. Something to take note of is that because peanut butter is so dense (as is the butter and shortening), you will need to scrape the bottom of the bowl several times while mixing or else a lot will settle on the bottom hard as clay under all the creamy goodness.

*I found this recipe here and it included vanilla in the ingredient list. We did not use it, and the recipe turned out amazingly well.
